Crucial Browser Wallet update, rise of scammers trying to trick users and investors into Starkware/StarkNet fake token sales, further resources for Devs being shipped.
After a very busy Thursday, we had a more chilled Friday on StarkNet leading us to some well deserved Weekend rest. The thing I would like to highlight the most today is the danger around scammers that users and investors could face as the whole ecosystem starts growing exponentially.
In fact, as tough and cynic as it might sound, the success and growth of an ecosystem, or generally speaking, of a technology is unfortunately always accompanied by malicious and parasitic actors that take advantage of the enthusiasm around solid projects to trick unexperienced investors and users, ultimately damaging and impairing the growth of the ecosystem itself, as scammed newbies would likely give up their effort to better understand and deal with the technology. As a consequence, this could also taint the reputation of the legit projects, slowing down the so desired mass adoption.
Being StarkNet a scaling solution aimed at facilitating mass adoption and at teleporting new users straight to L2 Dapps with very low and in some cases almost inexistent fees, we really need to be sure that prevention and warning about such bad actors are going to be protective companions of every StarkNet user.
The first examples of scams appearing on StarkNet are about users being contacted through Discord & Twitter DMs into fake Starkware/StarkNet Token Sales. This attempt tends to take advantage of those users that are showing up on StarkNet with the purpose of getting exposure to Token Airdrops by the projects being built and/or by Starkware itself. Although testing out new projects in an organic way is still a very good idea to get possible future Airdrop exposure, the best and safest way to farm value out of the StarkNet ecosystem would be by building, working and taking part in the communities and in the projects that are deploying on this new exciting Layer 2. In fact, almost all the protocols on StarkNet are looking for roles, from Devs to Growth & Marketing, from Discord community contributors to Researchers, from Designers to Translators and International sub-channel keepers, plus many more interesting job opportunities waiting for you on StarkNet.
One of my goals is helping teams on SN finding talent, therefore most of my sponsorships would be Job oriented, aimed at helping people find an interesting Web3 Job while doing my part to make the Ecosystem grow in a safe and sustainable way.
Stay tuned for many future roles being displayed on The Recap of the Previous Day on StarkNet!
But now, let’s relax and enjoy today’s Twitter Recap thread:
Thanks a lot for being here!
See you tomorrow for another Recap!!
Peace & L2's ❤️
